The wonderful Nadia turned twenty-two this week and so a celebration was in order with a touch of sophistication, a hint of glamour and mouthfuls of sweet deliciousness. So off we headed to the Delaunay Restaurant in Covent Garden for a dessert filled late lunch!
The main entrance to the restaurant is round the corner from the café which can be seen on Aldwych road. Once you walk through the big glass doors you are greeted by the smiling face of the maître d' and the lively chatter of all the other diners-who (lucky them!) clearly lunch here regularly.
They don't just cater for those with a sweet tooth. Their menu has a range of fresh salads, sandwiches and a really good selection of fish dishes.
Nadia went for the waffles with maple syrup and an iced coffee.
Whilst I chose Ceylon tea and the waffles as well but with blueberries and crème fraîche, which were honestly the best waffles I have ever had!
Although the waffles were filling, we couldn't resist trying another dessert!
Nadia opted for this beauty, the Schwarzwälder, a combination of cherry and chocolate sorbets with a candied tuile, which tasted as good as it looked!
I went for the Lemon and Praline Millefeuille, which looks a bit like a cake, but has layers of pastry in between the lemon and praline mouse.
Although there was a great buzz and liveliness in the restaurant, the food was delicious and the waiters were friendly and welcoming, the service, however, was quite slow for some reason.
I wore my black ASOS peplum top-which is quickly becoming a favourite of mine, dark skinny jeans also from ASOS, a long grey Vero Moda cardigan, my new Zara sandals-I was meant to save these for Spain but couldn't wait that long to wear them! My bag is from Urban Outfitters and necklace from Topshop.

Do you have a sweet tooth and love the idea of dessert lunches too?
(I'm off to Spain next week and I'm sadly not taking my mac, but I've got a few posts scheduled to give you lovely readers some light reading whilst I'm away!)
