For my first post I thought it was apt to begin with a place where my family sort of began. I am so proud that I am able to say that this magical island is an important part of my cultural heritage,so I thought I would share some images. I mean...isn't it gorgeous?!

If your looking for a relaxing getaway, a place of sun, sea, great people and great food, Zanzibar is most definitely the place to go! Steeped in history and tradition, Zanzibar’s centre is a haven for culture vultures, with a bustling market selling aromatic spices, fresh locally grown fruit, carved wooden souvenirs and traditional African material called Kanga. The old Stone Town is not only where my father was born, but it is also where legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury took his first steps. Although sadly crumbling into ruins, the narrow streets and intricately carved doors are a reminder of a lively town it once was. For those who would rather make the most of the gorgeous weather and long sandy beaches, the north of Zanzibar offers high class resorts which sit right on the edge of the small island. With the option of snorkeling, kayaking and jet skiing in Zanzibar’s crystal clear blue sea, there is something for everyone on this beautiful island.
